Introduction

In February, the RedCAT Network welcomed another group of low-carbon innovators to the RedCAT Centre at the East Lancashire Chamber of Commerce.

RedCAT Advocacy Events Update

The session began with a brief update on RedCAT’s plans for COP30 in Belém, Brazil. We encouraged businesses to get involved in COP to help raise the profile of Lancashire’s low-carbon innovators and benefit from the trade mission element of the event.

We also highlighted an opportunity for businesses to visit Salford Energy House to see best practice in low-carbon retrofit technology.

Finally, we previewed the upcoming meeting at Hampton Court Palace for the Sustainable Markets Initiative, where RedCAT business AMP EV will discuss global climate solutions and responsible business practices with Alok Sharma, John Kerry and His Majesty King Charles III.

Equity Investment for Climate Tech

The main focus of this month’s Network was equity investment for Climate Tech, led by Stuart Thompson from RedCAT Ventures. Stuart outlined the challenges of raising funds in the sector, particularly due to its higher capital requirements and longer development times. He shared valuable insights into fundraising strategies for 2025 and highlighted the benefits of working with RedCAT Ventures for Lancashire’s Climate Tech businesses.

Backing for All Forms of Green-Tech…

To wrap up, we heard from each of the Climate Tech innovators in the room, asking them: “How’s business?” This provided a valuable snapshot of how Lancashire’s low-carbon economy is faring in Q1 2025.
